The current outlook for using this for consumer usage is to take advantage of the disk space and ease of use to make it the next generation of disk players. Tests that have been run on the laser for this type of use are so far successful. These disks will be able to hold 20 times more than a Blu-ray disk is able to. So with this technology we’ll be able to watch a series of Harry Potter movies together or the entire season of our favorite shows on one disk. There’s not any news on when this will be available for consumer use, but we can already start budgeting to replace our Blu-ray Movie and TV show collection, though it should cost less to do so.

1983 brought about the release of a system that would spawn into many variations for several decades, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This system crushed Atari in an afterthought and its makers could imagine what it would turn into.

Here we are in 2011 with gaming systems that are looking more and more lifelike every year. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo sit atop as the “big three” of the gaming industry. The Sony PS3 and the Microsoft Xbox360 both boast great graphics with standard controller style. Nintendo took a different angle with the Wii bringing the users body motion into the game.

Now we see the other of the “big three” bringing user motion into their games, Microsoft with its Kinect and Sony’s Motion Controller. Both of these have taken Nintendo’s idea and improving upon it. As time would continue, it would have eventually connected to the internet as well. Unfortunately, the Gizmondo was way before its time, its price tag was too hefty for most and there were few games available. In 2006, right before the widescreen release of the Gizmondo, its maker—Tiger Telematics—folded and away went the Gizmondo. Specialists with resumes in traditional television graphic design and engineering are rumoured to be working under a separate internal group, which may add credence to the rumors of an entirely new product launch sometime in the future.

Some critics have suggested that Apple could simply put more effort into promoting current technology like the Mini as a viable media center and not just a computer. Allowing more capabilities for iTunes to access streaming TV program content could essentially negate the need for Apple TV and dramatically increase the sales of existing platforms like the Mini.

Apple TV has not been favorably viewed by consumers since the platform began shipping in May of 2007. Touted as a “DVD killer” benefiting from access to multiple services, Apple soon realized that consumers would rather view internet content embedded with advertising rather than paying for it on demand and commercial-free.

My baby has her first loose tooth! I couldn’t believe that it has been long enough for this to happen. I mean, really, she is so young! She is super excited, but won’t let anyone pull it out for her. In order to handle more and more sets of instructions or processes it was found necessary to develop more processors and come out with the dual core processors. This allows a computer to do much more than ever.

Not only has the introduction of multiple processors and the dual core technology happened, but technological advances have decreased the time it takes a processor to cycle through and run different applications. Not only that but the strength of the chip becomes stronger over time. This is an ongoing thing.

So with so many computer processing advancements, what’s next? The next thing is to make computer processing mimic natural processes. Not only that but research is being done to make computer processing parts out of biological and organic components that mimics some of the most natural processes. This technology will not be seen by the general public for a long time, but when it does it can be one step further to creating a more organic, environmentally friendly world. In the meantime, computer processors have come a very long way from where they once started and we have and will continue to benefit greatly from it.

When Napster started in 1991, college campuses were some of the few places where individuals had enough broadband access to make downloading songs worth the time. As technology improved, campuses became hotbeds for illegal file sharing. As college students return to their dorms this fall, however, they will find that they have been cut off from “free” music, movies, computer programs, and other files.

In 2008, the government passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which required every college in the United States to stop illegal downloading by July 2010. Now that July has come and gone, most colleges have complied with the law.

Some colleges have chosen to monitor file sharing through third-party applications. They can hire a company to monitor downloads to ensure that illegal activity does not take place. Other schools, such as UCLA, however, say that bringing in a third party violates their privacy agreement with students. They will, therefore, implement their own plan.

What happens to students who are caught? That largely depends on the school.

Most colleges want to use this as an opportunity to teach students why they should not download copyright protected files. These institutions typically give students a fine and require them to attend a seminar. Some also require community service to reinforce those lessons.

Dealing with a college is almost always better than getting caught by the Recording Industry Association of America, which sues individuals for thousands of dollars when they are caught downloading files.

Many students contest the very notion of what is illegal about file sharing, and some courts have supported their perspectives. For instance, if an individual already owns an album, is it truly illegal to download a copy of that album? If so, then what is the difference between simply copying the CD to one’s computer?

The IRAA has also been called out for bullying individuals into paying high fees to settle out of court. Many people pay those fines because the alternative means lengthy, expensive lawsuits. They are, therefore, never actually convicted of any crime, so may or may not be guilty of copyright infringement.

The Internet has been a blessing for many people. Students and researchers can use it to access information without tediously flipping through books at the library; businesses can use it to reach out to customers; and home users can access entertainment quickly and inexpensively.

Too much of a good thing, however, could cause serious health problems.

A recent study from China indicates that children who use their computers pathologically are more prone to depression than their peers who use computers casually. Pathological use has been defined as between 5 to 10 hours per day. Some children in the study, however, were online even more than 10 hours each day.

They even experienced withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety and irritability, when deprived of their daily Internet access.

The research project studied 1,000 Chinese teenagers for one year. At the beginning of the study, none of them showed signs of depression. By the project’s end, though, those who used the Internet excessively were one and a half times more likely to have developed depression.

There are several potential reasons that teenagers might be more likely to experience symptoms of depression when they spend too much time online. Some of those reasons include lack of exercise, stress from online gaming, sleep deprivation, and lack of socialization.

This isn’t the first time that researchers have warned against pathological Internet use. Earlier this year, researchers at the University of Leeds in London released a study with similar findings. The British study also showed that many of the individuals who were “addicted” to Internet use tended to spend a lot of time on pornographic and gambling sites as well as social networking websites.

The depression could also be a result of social isolation. Spending 10 hours in front of a computer every day does not exactly leave much time for making friends in the real world. A recent study from Brigham Young University found that people who spend excessive amounts of time in front of their computers or televisions were in worse health than those who were overweight, heavy smokers, or heavy drinkers.

Computer viruses and worms have been big concerns for home users and businesses for years. The vast majority of worms do little more than implement harmless pranks. Others, however, can cause serious damage.

Recently, power plants around the world have discovered worms designed to take over their systems. The latest, and perhaps most dangerous, worm is named Stuxnet. It has the ability to take over the physical operations of power plants. This gives it control of doors, machinery, and other systems.

This is much more concerning than previous malware attempts, which have focused solely on exploiting software. If Stuxnet were to take control of a power plant’s physical systems, then there is no limit to what kind of damage it could cause. Plants are concerned that the worm would not only cause property damage, but could even bring physical harm to employees and customers.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other agencies from governments around the world have taken notice of this threat. Power plants do much more than supply energy to customers who use it to run refrigerators, computers, and other electric gadgets. The electricity is also an important aspect of state and federal defense.

So far, Stuxnet has been caught trying to infect about 6,000 computers across the globe. It was first discovered in Germany. Several instances have since been discovered in the U.S., Iran, Indonesia, and India. Computer security specialists are currently working on a patch that would make it impossible for Stuxnet to infect systems. Until the patch is ready, though, power plants will have to pay close attention to their computer systems.

Why would someone create a worm like Stuxnet? There are several potential reasons, some of which make more sense than others. Some hackers create viruses and worms as intellectual challenges. They want to see whether they can breach the most secure systems in the world. For them, it’s kind of like solving a puzzle. Others have ideological aspirations leaning towards anarchy. By creating harmful viruses, they hope to disrupt society. Some hackers are looking for financial gain by stealing information from computers.

In the beginning, there was Friendster. Then an Internet migration made Myspace the most popular social networking site on the planet. A few short years later, Facebook had created an empire that spanned the virtual globe. And then there was… Google?

The Internet’s short history shows us that social networking junkies are fickle creatures that are always on the look out for a better site to use. Whether or not they want to admit it, everyone knows that Facebook will eventually take second place to a new website. Google hopes to create the site that will make Facebook a part of history.

Google recently announced that it has entered the planning phase of creating a social networking site that will rival every attempt before it. This isn’t surprising. Google has the ambition to be the best at everything online. Social networking websites were the next logical step.

So, how will Google’s site be different from Facebook, Myspace, and Friendster? No one knows for sure yet, but there is some speculation. Google will likely focus on building a site that addresses common issues that bother Facebook users.

For instance, many Facebook members complain that the site’s online chats freeze up often and drop conversations. Google could attract dissatisfied Facebook users by creating a more reliable chat option, perhaps one that uses video chats.

As owners of YouTube, Google could also address one of the biggest complaints that Internet users have: every site is independent of others. Integrating YouTube into the new social networking site would make it easier for users to upload, create, and comment on videos without switching from one site to the other. This would provide a more cohesive experience.

Clutter is another big complaint from Facebook users. Constant requests to join online games such as Farmville often annoy members who just want to use social networking to communicate with friends, relatives, and colleagues. They don’t necessarily have any interest in playing games. A Google site that eliminates clutter from third-party applications would appeal to those who just want to use the site for networking rather than play.

Computer specialists have been working on the artificial intelligence problem for decades. The challenge is to create a computer that is indistinguishable from a human. Of course, being a computer, it should be able to recall information much faster than the average human. Rational thinking and learning, however, have proven themselves particularly difficult to simulate.

IBM’s leading project into artificial intelligence, named Watson, has competed in mock Jeopardy trials before. This year, however, it will go head-to-head with former Jeopardy champions in a 50-game tournament.

David Ferrucci, who leads the Watson team at IBM, says that they will publish the details of the tournament. If Watson fails to simulate intelligence, then the company will provide information detailing why it failed.

So, why should anyone care whether Watson can play Jeopardy?

Artificial intelligence isn’t just a pet project for brainy computer programmers. It has real-world applications that could change the way that all of us use PCs.

As artificial intelligence improves, computers get better at anticipating human need and understanding human thinking. Computers have an amazing capacity for storing information, but they’re unable to use any of that information without programming that teaches them how to think. They’re basically blank slates. They have no means or reason to communicate.

An exceptional artificial intelligence program, however, could change that. Many of the frustrations that computer users have result from an inability to communicate with their machines. Humans don’t think like computers, and computers don’t typically think at all.

Creating user friendly AI would make computers much easier to use because it would allow you to communicate with the machine as you would anyone else. Think about all of those science fiction movies where a character walks into a room and says something like “Computer, find me all of the news stories related to murder in the Upper West Side.” AI will one day make it possible for home computer users to issue similar directives.

While you always want to root for the home species, Watson’s success at the Jeopardy tournament could mean that we’re a big step closer to that reality.

In this time of economic hardship, and with terms like recession being thrown around, it may seem like more and more people are out of work. It’s more than an impression, though. More and more people really are out of work than ever before in recent years, and unemployment rates are still rising according to some reports. People who entered the work force years before the internet became a household tool may be wary of beginning a quest for a job through websites. Those folks may be especially concerned by the idea of posting a resume with personal information such as addresses and phone numbers and previous employers. But the old fashioned job searches are over. The days of faxed resumes and mailed notices are gone. Most businesses prefer to conduct business—including posting ads, collecting resumes, and possibly even preliminary interviews or skills tests—in the online space. The internet affords companies a faster rate of completion, as well as a cheaper way to take care of necessary actions. So easy and cheap is the internet, in fact, that newspaper advertisements for jobs are almost obsolete. Most companies instead post their open positions on their company websites under the career or human resources tab, or on third party job sites.

Craigslist.com is a great resource for job seekers. Since it’s cheap to post a job listing, many companies use this site, and there are tons of options and listings for open positions. Other sites like Monster.com are also excellent places to look for jobs, and Monster.com offers the added bonus of allowing seekers to build profiles. That way, each time the seeker signs into the site, their information is saved so they can simply click a button to apply for jobs found in future listings. Sites like this and email have made job searching easier and more affordable for employers and employees.

On June 24th, 2010 the Apple iPhone 4 was launched with the typical fanfare. Hundreds lined up outside of Apple stores to purchase the new and improved version of the record-setting smartphone. What customers didn’t know was that the antenna located on the bottom right of the phone would lose reception when gripped too tight. The resulting press was a feeding frenzy as competing smartphone companies preyed on phones weakness by putting out full page ads and pamphleting the internet with press releases. All eyes were on Apple’s founder Steve Jobs to see how he would handle this. The result was a mix of masterful deferment and tangible solutions. Apple, bruised but undefeated, came out relatively unscathed by the so-called “Antenna Gate”.

When addressed with the antenna problem Steve Job’s press conference took it head-on. First Job’s focused on the impressive sales of the iPhone which sold 3 million in under a month, outselling the iPhone 3G in that amount of time. Second, he compared the iPhone antenna problem to other smartphones with the same problem and stated that only 0.55 AppleCare calls are due to the faulty antenna. Job’s big fix was providing every iPhone 4 customer with a bumper case that eliminated the “death grip” problem. Every iPhone sold to a customer now comes with a bumper case. Job’s also announced that a new modification to all iPhone 4’s have the problem fixed.

The iPhone 4 features a wide variety of new features that take the concept of a hand-held computer that makes phone calls to a whole new level. The iPhone 4 makes face-to-face video calls, features a dramatic improvement in screen resolution, and records and plays HD movies. The 3.5 inch screen which features 960-by-640 resolution erases all evidence of pixilation and looks unbelievably sharp and crisp. Even with the antenna malfunction, the iPhone 4 is a tremendous step forward in the computer-based smartphone technology.

In terms of API’s (Application Programming Interface) Twitter and Facebook are still kings of the microbloging App world. Google’s answer to this phenomenon was its Buzz feature launched earlier this year. Buzz allows gmail users to share information with friends, family, and coworkers in a feed much resembling Twitter’s. You can easily link your blog (if you are on blogspot), facebook profile, as well as share websites, articles, pictures, and posts in a real-time feed. Buzz started slowly, and while it is offered as a free service along with a gmail account many gmail users were baffled as to what the buzz icon in their inbox actually did. Those who used it complained of a lack of API availability of a limited modification of apps for developers. Google set out to change that this month with their installation of the Buzz Firehose. This increased access to developers to publish information on their apps as soon as it is published. Just as the name suggests, the firehose opens a steady stream of information from Buzz to a range of fully customizable applications.

Firehose streams information posted on Buzz directly into any number of applications without developers having to manually retrieve each one. Google Buzz will automatically send the developer the information via their fully developed API, thus opening up lines of communication like never before. When Twitter opened their API to developers this opened the floodgates to a variety of exciting apps and home development that made twitter a viable and customizable playground of applications. Buzz is hoping to jump on this bandwagon. While it is unclear as to how far reaching this will be, Buzz is hoping that as more gmail users utilize Buzz, more developers will be attracted to creating apps through the new API.

The numbers aren’t in yet for how many people actually use the site, but with a more effective and streamlined API model it seems like only a matter of time before Buzz is a major player in the microblogosphere.

Google has long dominated the search engine game by rolling out a seemingly endless list of feature after feature. With Google heading in so many different directions from building smartphones, to improving their ever-popular Google Earth, to entering their bid into the microblogging world, sometimes their bread and butter search engines are lost in the shuffle. It may surprise many that Google’s popular “Google Images”, which allows users the option to look at an image along with their web search, hasn’t had a major revamp since 2001. The business giant held a press conference this weekend to announce major changes in the way users interact with Google Images.

Marissa Mayer, vice president of search products and user experience, announced a major overhaul to the Google Images portion of the browser. The new layout is designed to enhance the overall feel and user satisfaction by reducing the number of mouse-clicks to scroll through the pages of images. Mayer introduced the “infinite scroll” which presents over 1,000 images on a single page, presenting most, if not all, popular images on a single, user-friendly page. The thumbnail images also give the reader more information about the image itself including what the image is and where it comes from.

Mayer also announced that advertisers will be able to add an image from Google Images into their text ad. Google hopes that this newly found interaction between advertisers and the search engine will increase the amount of people clicking on the advertisement itself, thus generating more revenue for the search-engine dominating company. As of now only about 10 % of users are seeing the new and improved Google Images, this will change as Google incrementally implements the service to all users. This is a major improvement on a fantastic program that promises to compliment your google search.

Google’s web browser, Google Chrome, is fast becoming one of the world’s usable and most used browsers available on the net. Google Chrome has become a major force in the browser market, gaining over 7.2 % of the browser usage in only a few years of use. It has even begun turning the heads of Apple’s Safari and the open source Firefox as a serious contender. With Chrome’s latest edition of their web browser Chrome 6 it is easy to see why. Google Chrome 6 features an expanded and streamlined set of applications along with a bevy of new features not available on previous editions. With all of these features there are a few that have been sidelined for use in future editions. These features that were scrapped for this edition hint at even better innovations and improved service down the pipeline in Google Chromes to come.

Google Chrome 6 features an extensions sync that makes it possible to transfer all extensions from one computer to another without losing anything in the process. Chrome 6 has also fixed some of the problems that plagued earlier versions. For example, a consolidated menu button collapses the two earlier page and tool buttons into one single button. Another exciting new improvement is the further developed browsing history synchronization that allows a user to easily revisit websites across multiple browsers.

Some features that missed the bus for Chrome 6 but will show up on subsequent editions are the much talked about “side tabs” that enable users to use a vertical tabbing system that many claim streamlines the browsing process. The “Native Client” program which Google has been talking about for awhile is not yet ready, but promises to allow downloaded material run smoother, faster, and more securely on any machine, as If the program were part of the hardware itself.

With all of the exciting features Google Chrome 6 has to offer, Google has made it clear that the best is yet to come.

On July 21, 2010 Facebook obtained over half-billion users, making it the most popular social network site in history. This begs the question, however, what would you do with 500,000,000 friends? For most of us having a few close friends and a number of “online” friends is enough to keep us more than occupied. Due to the ever expanding global market for social networking and its ability to span age and socio-economic gaps, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Facebook on its way to this milestone event. In fact earlier this year Facebook received the lowest customer satisfaction rates it has ever received. The paradox is however, while so many are frustrated with its layout, spontaneous ad notifications, and privacy concerns, they are so interconnected to the lifestyle Facebook affords that Facebook gained more customers than ever during their poor performance record.

Some major concerns that people had were the relatively lax privacy features that facebook offered. Instead of making strict privacy settings the default users had to choose to make their profiles private, and given the casual relationship to the site many opted out based on confusion of the rules. The fact that facebook users are getting younger and younger by the year leads to legitimate concerns about child safety on the internet. More concerns surfaced about Facebook’s massive advertising platform, “annoying” notifications and spamming, and abrupt interface changes that altered the layout of the site overnight.

While a majority of the clientele surveyed ranked the site with low marks in those areas, they continued to use the site, logging in multiple times a day to connect with family, friends, and co-workers. The fact that Facebook accrued it’s 500,000,000 th friend should come as no surprise. Ever since its inception the site has been a runaway success, starting as a college network and eventually expanding worldwide. Founder Mark Zuckerberg celebrated this victory by launching a new app called “Facebook Stories” which allows users to tell their stories of how Facebook helped them reconnect with old friends and family members.

Is HIV going to become a disease of the past? Scientists working at the National Institute of Health have recently announced the discovery of Antibody VRC01 which has the ability to combat 91% of all known HIV strains. The term discovery is used because of the unique and clever way this antibody was discovered. Scientists have suspected that a large quantity of people are infected with HIV but never show symptoms or have issues because their bodies are able to handle the virus. After new blood testing methods were developed scientists were then able to begin searching for individuals who had the virus but were not aware.

After testing the scientists were right and have been able to find almost a dozen different antibodies that different people’s bodies have developed to combat HIV. Unfortunately most of the antibodies were only able to fight a few strains of the virus and could be defeated. Then along came Donor 45. Donor 45 is unique because this individual has lived with HIV for 20 years. The antibodies their body has developed are extremely effective at neutralizing HIV and after testing the antibodies were found to neutralize 91% of strains. The NIH has stated nothing is unique about this individual that would cause them to develop these unique antibodies but rather they just happened but they are confident they can get others to do the same.

So what’s next? One method is finding ways to mix the antibodies to create an ultimate HIV killing cocktail. Another method is continuing to hunt for the ultimate HIV antibody. Still another method is finding a way to make HIV positive individuals create their own antibodies. All the methods are viable and are being pursued. With the help of some clever science and a random person named Donor 45 the virus which has killed more than 25 million people may be on its last days. It is interesting that a virus that naturally evolved may be wiped out by the human bodies natural evolution against it.

In a demonstration taken straight from science fiction the US Navy successfully shot down multiple drones off the coast of California in a demonstration of a new directed energy weapon called LaWS. While at first glance this may not seem that impressive compared to other projects in the field of directed energy weapons such as ABL which rides in a 747 and is designed to take out ballistic missiles or THEL the joint United States Israeli anti artillery platform the details of the test let this system truly shine.

For one the Laser Weapon System (LaWS) uses a solid state laser. What does this mean? Well there are actually multiple types of lasers and they are differentiated by how the laser energy is created. The more common gas laser for example uses a high voltage passing through a gas to create light. Gas lasers are simple and reliable but inefficient and low power. The more advanced Chemical lasers use chemical reactions to create laser light. These lasers can be immensely powerful (Megawatts!) but are complicated and create some seriously dangerous byproducts during use. The byproducts are so bad that the airborne versions of these lasers do not eject the byproducts over the enemy but actually store them for disposal back at base! Then there are the newer Solid State lasers which use electricity and a glass or crystal to create light. They are simple, efficient, more powerful than gas lasers, and no harmful byproducts. A good weapon.

Secondly the test was performed on a naval ship. This is impressive because of tracking on a rocking ship and lasers do not mix well with water vapor. Water vapor scatters the beam of a laser and sucks energy out of the beam almost acting as a shield for the target. All other laser weapons stay away from wet environments but the LaWS succeeded there. So even though this laser will probably not be able to engage fast missile threats it is an impressive step towards a functioning directed energy weapon. We are one step closer to be able to yell “Full Energy to Lasers!” and have it mean something.

People need and want convenience. They want the things that make their lives easier and make things flow better for them. A life with technology in it is one that can keep a person flexible yet able to stay connected to all that’s going on around them. People are able to take this flexibility and convenience and make it work for them by using it in all areas where they get the most benefit. This can include managing their homes, automobiles, children, and even work.

Today’s technology has completely evolved from what was available ten yeas ago, and many things that are available make the Internet the best place to go for resources and information. The World Wide Web has made it possible to find information on broad-reaching topics like safety, Internet dating, restaurant reviews, and auto refinance.

Technology can make things much easier, especially if a person uses it in the right way and maximizes all the tools and resources that abound. In the quest to develop the Übersoldiers the Pentagon has traveled down some interesting paths. However the most recent string of research by DARPA has yielded some potentially impressive and controversial technology. For those outside the loop DARPA or the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is the research arm of the Pentagon and United States Military specializing in weapons and military applicable technology. Recently DARPA scientists revealed they have figured out how to create artificial blood which is identical to the old fashioned stuff. Why is this important? Because blood is is sometimes hard to get when you need it and relies on donors and in an active battlefield blood can be even harder to get and after large operations blood reserves can be emptied before all casualties have been treated.

Using a type of Stem cells harvested from freshly available umbilical cords scientists at a company called Arteriocyte in Ohio are essentially able to create bone marrow. The bone marrow is then placed into artificial bone stand ins and allowed to produce all of the important components of blood. Impressively scientists have even figured out how to make the blood created in this process Type O- allowing it to be used for any individual. It is easy to see that this process although developed for the military has an application on the home front for supplying hospitals with much needed blood in times of shortages.

This new technology adds to the impressive string of other recent infantry survival developments DARPA has spearheaded with the goal of practically cheating death. Bandages made using Chitosan which is derived from shrimp shells have been shown to stop bleeding in grevious arterial wounds in less than thirty seconds and will be able to save soldiers that easily would have had lethal wounds before hand. For more serious casualties DARPA research is also continuing into a Hydrogen sulfide based system that induces suspended animation causing the heart to stop beating, and bleeding, and preserving organs giving soldiers several more hours to be transferred off the battlefield to advanced care. With the goal of military medicine DARPA is creating technology that could improve survivability for the rest of us as well.

For landlubbers who may not know Sweden is a haven for anti-copyright groups thanks to Sweden’s privacy and copyright laws. The infamous torrent site Pirate Bay calls Sweden home and has managed to maintain operations despite police raids and court rulings. It may come as no surprise then that Sweden also has a anti-copyright political party uniquely named the Pirate Party or Piratpartiet in Swedish. What may be shocking however is the Pirate Party is the third largest political party in Sweden! This has resulted in the Pirate Party acquiring seats in European Parliament and this is where things have started to get interesting.

After the most recent court injunction aimed at the ISP of the Pirate Bay that left Pirate Bay offline for half a day the Swedish Pirate Party began using its Parliamentary Powers. The Pirate Party took over as the Internet Service Provider for the site and has allowed the webpage to run problem free.

Now the Pirate Party is creating a new anonymous and private ISP service with the intention of applying their ideas to an Internet Service Provider. Pirate ISP has completed small scale testing is now rolling out broadband service in the city of Lund and then across Sweden. Pirate ISP refuses to keep logs or allow monitoring from authorities and is sure to ruffle some feathers. Although the new Internet Service Provider is based around a controversial idea some of its features offer a refreshing change others might follow. The mission of Pirate ISP is to protect customers information and protect their privacy. In a world where everything is slowly linking Pirate ISP is going the other way and offering privacy. It is unclear how far the Pirate ISP will get but the Pirate Party believes it is on legal grounds which is a good thing because it is already starting to draw the attention of copyright groups. How far it will get is anyones guess but history favors those that go against the current.

Seniors are often not as computer-savvy as their younger counterparts. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. Some seniors embrace technology firmly and work hard to stay in touch with the latest gadgets. The Internet helps them remain connected to children and grandchildren across the country or across the world. For most seniors, though, the computer is a mystery. They aren’t sure how to work it, or can only perform basic tasks that don’t get them very far – and can leave them feeling frustrated and unable to do the kinds of things they would like to do.
